“Habitats” Book Production Update #1 – Preview & Sketches

Hello all,

This is the first update about a new book that I’ve been whittling away at for over a year and have only just begun to put serious hours into.

The project is still in the early phases and I haven’t 100% decided on a title, so the working title is “Habitats”.  I am really excited to work on this book, as I’ve been wanting to make a bestiary-style project for years. So far, I have really been enjoying working on the paintings and developing the colorful environments that the book’s residents inhabit. This will be my second major book project after Lesser Beasts which I released this May.

Here are some basic details about the book:

I’m working on a bestiary-style illustrated book with 30 brand-new watercolor illustrations of a variety of creatures from a fantasy island. Each creature will be presented with some lore and details about their habitat and place in the world. The book will be structured like a guidebook and will be filled with quirky creatures and will also include maps, illustrations of flora, etc.

All of the illustrations will be brand new, full color watercolor paintings and I’m very excited to work my way through the whole series.

I am not ready to provide any release information on a launch yet, but I’m hoping to have the pre-order open before Chirstmas! I’ll release more information on how to purchase the book in upcoming months.

Below you can see some photographs of the original sketches that I created a little over a year ago. As you can see, this project has been a long time in the making.
