So I thought I’d provide a little art update about what I’ve been doing in my free time lately – tattoo-inspired art. I’ve been really interested in practicing various tattoo-related styles as I’m considering pursuing this as a trade in the future. Plus, I enjoy working on small , simple drawings.
I won’t be doing an actual tutorial for any of the pieces (since I didn’t plan ahead), but I will break down the illustrations by which materials I used. I mostly worked with ink pens, watercolor and pencil crayon.
If you’d like a breakdown of the specific supplies that I use,
Full color – pencil Crayon
These pieces were all created with Prismacolor pencil crayons and Pigma ink pens on Strathmore Toned Tan paper. I find that this technique is more time-consuming than watercolor, so these took between 15 minutes and 2.5 hours to finish.
Black / black and grey
Lastly, all of these illustrations were created with Pigma ink pens, and either black watercolor or pencil crayon; a few have red highlights, which are pencil crayon as well. They took between 20 mins and 3 hours to complete.
Thanks for taking a look, I’ll be sure to post more artworks as I complete them. In the meantime, check out some of my other projects and perhaps purchase a digital copy of my newest graphic novel, Lesser Beasts.
